Day 7: Neighbourhood, Ballad, Assonance

Connecting to the Sun

Each day I met
Upon my waking
Wall to wall and floor to ceiling grey
It was not of my making.

Let me find the sun within
The sun within my heart
Let me touch the sun within
My deep self counterpart.

Winter moved to winter
And then returned again!
What’s happened to our climate?
This grey has numbed my brain!

Let me reach the sun within
The sun within my heart
Let me touch the sun within
My deep self counterpart.

It rarely changed I had to move
To warmer drier climes
And letting go was no mean feat
I’m still a product of our times.

Let me be the sun within
The sun within my heart
Let me join you sun within
My deep self counterpart.
